Write like a pro without AI – almost!
How to Write Professionally

A full guide to draft, edit and proofread perfectly

This book teaches you to write non-fiction like a pro without AI – the real thing, your original voice, that no algorithm will see (and share!) before you submit it to your readers!

You get simple methods to devise, draft, edit and proofread any document you may ever need to write, whether for one person or to publish in the big wide world. You also get a list of types of documents and their specific rules that you can pick from according to what is most relevant to your use cases.

It will help you express your opinions, ace exam questions, convey your knowledge, and impress your audience with your professionalism! It includes The Writing Tools Quicklist, the Seven Sieves Method, and the 10-point Report.

Here are the skills you will learn:

  • Profile your reader.
  • Do a quick requirement analysis and anticipate possible obstacles.
  • Outline your path: know exactly what should and should not be in each paragraph. Let your content flow from one idea to the other.
  • Make ‘music’: vary sentence structure, pick the right style, make it real and make it feel.
  • Draft coherently: pick your language and stick to it, get your timelines right, use correct syntax, connect ideas, hyphenate multiple modifiers, and use parallel lists.
  • Respect the rules: grammar, punctuation, spelling.
  • Edit ruthlessly: check for missing content, unwanted content, inappropriate tone, lack of logic, language mistakes; third-party test your copy.
  • Proofread like a pro: spot out every remaining mistake, including layout incoherences, misprints and possible monsters missed in all the previous stages, place yourself in the reader’s shoes or a linguist’s eagle eye.
  • Pick the format and the tone that fit your purpose: email, report, business offer, out-of-office auto-reply, newsletter, blog post,…
  • Use AI smartly.

This book offers invaluable guidance for anyone in the following categories:

  • College and university students working on exam preparation, assignments, theses, or research papers, as well as their teachers who want to support them.
  • Students of translation, whose writing skills must be perfect.
  • Professionals, including business, academia, marketing, or technical sectors, who are required to produce written materials such as reports, documents, or presentations.
Works for self-study or as support for your coaching sessions.
  • TESOL/ESL learners (B2 to C2 level): Individuals learning English as a second language who want to write effectively in academic or professional contexts. This includes both students and professionals aiming to meet higher standards in formal and informal writing.

The “Learn The Ropes” (LTR) Difference

Our books are written in big, friendly letters and a touch of humour to make learning as efficient as it is engaging. This modern method allows you to weave together a robust set of competencies, transforming you into a master of communication. Endorsed by the NATO Head Interpreter, each workbook offers ample space for exercises and personal annotations, yet remains slim enough to slip effortlessly into your laptop bag for learning on the go.

The superpower combo: Sit down and do the exercises in the paperback for hands-on practice and maximum memorisation. Submit your work and questions to a coach for tailored feedback and for expert guidance on your specific issues and wishes. You can find a coach in our Special Deals section. They can also revise your own documents in close collaboration with you during video or audio calls.

LTR 5 is a wonderful toolkit for the deceptively simple goal of “perfect writing”. It teaches you to draft coherently, to edit ruthlessly, to proofread like a pro, to respect the rules, and to make it an interesting ride.

What I loved the most is that it actually provides systems and tools for helping you in every phase, like The Seven Sieves method and many more. That’s worth gold! I feel like the writer truly understands that good writing doesn’t just “appear”.

As a designer who writes proposals, reports, workshop documentation and so on, I’ve certainly marked myself pages I’ll return to. For now, I’m continuing with LTR 6.
