‘LTR 2: A light in the dark ocean of human communication

This workbook dives into the deep, dark ocean of human factors in communication. An invisible territory that is full of obstacles that can prevent effective communication from happening. The book explores what often goes unsaid: our needs, communication styles, beliefs, assumptions, judgements, attitudes, behaviours, emotions and more.

I especially enjoyed how it connected the DISC theory with the idea of becoming more agile (like a chameleon) to improve our communication efforts. It’s full of insights that really stick, like the Italian word sentire meaning both “to hear” and “to feel,” or that sentences are like treasures full of jewels, each one to be used for asking powerful questions that help us navigate hidden hurdles in conversations.

One of the highlights for me was a quote by philosopher Rumi, encouraging us to leave behind judgment and move toward a shared understanding, whether it’s between two people or across society. Top tier systemic thinking! The author offers smart strategies for navigating that field, such as practising assertiveness, learning to ask better questions, how to work with (and not against) our emotions, or avoiding jargon.

For me, LTR 2 is literally an an eye-opener for the invisible, human-centered approach to clear communication. I’m already looking forward to what comes next in the series, especially LTR 4 and 6, where these emotional and behavioral dimensions will be further explored.’
